Mendoza is home to a diverse range of olive oil varieties, each with its own distinct characteristics. I had never really thought about the process of olive oil and balsamic making but I was very much into the different varieties. One of my favorite hobbies is cooking so I had some knowledge of olive oils. I say all of this because after booking a wine tour in Mendoza included was a trip to an olive grove for a tasting. Let me tell you that was the best part of the entire tour. From the robust and peppery Arauco to the fruity and delicate Frantoio, there is an olive oil for every palate. We learned about the processes and flavor infusions. So after that, I did two things. Wrote several travel guides on how to do your own wine tasting instead of tours, then I did as much research about olive groves in Mendoza. That tasting would not be my last on our trip! Here is my experience with Mendoza Olive Groves and why you must do a tasting.
WHERE TO VISIT...
Olive oil and balsamic vinegar are not just your ordinary condiments; they are culinary treasures that have been cherished for centuries. While we often take them for granted as essential ingredients in our recipes, there is a fascinating world waiting to be explored beyond the supermarket shelves. In this guide, we invite you to dive deeper into the art of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. During my Tasting experiences I learned how to pair certain olive oils with herbs, meats, breads and cheese. WHile also learning you can have dessert balsamics. Hello movie night with a tub of vanilla ice cream and dessert balsamic.
Many tasting experiences in Mendoza offer expert guidance and tips to help you appreciate the subtle nuances of these flavorful condiments. From proper swirling techniques to identifying tasting notes, you'll soon be sipping like a true connoisseur.
Laur Olivicola:
The place that started my love for oils, balsamics, and vinegar tastings. The tour takes you around the grove where you see trees planted hundreds of years ago. Next, you see the making process and the guide explains how the process has changed over the years along with many other amazing facts about the history of olive growing. At last you are at the tasting. You are given a variety of different cheeses and breads to try each olive oil and balsamic with. I can’t even describe how amazing this tasting was. Each unique and had a personality of its own.
