From luxury all inclusive resorts to the cute tucked away AirBNBs there is accommodation for every type of vacationer. We stayed in two really cool airBNBs, one owned by a retired Canadian couple that wanted to move to PV and have retirement income. We only spent $75US a night!! Puerto Vallarta's town square is full of street performers and food stands along with being lined with bars and night clubs, and of course there are 4 Señor Frogs with in a 2 mile stretch, but if you venture along the beach you will run into the town with tons of shopping and restaurants.

After immersing yourself in the art world, treat your taste buds to a culinary adventure by dining at one of the many exquisite local restaurants. From savoring fresh seafood ceviche to indulging in traditional Mexican delicacies like mole and tacos al pastor, Puerto Vallarta is a true food lover's haven. The best part is local beers, Victoria, Corona, and Pacific are only $2 if you know where to look! The hidden gems are in the streets behind the main beach street, local homemade food with out the tourist price tag.

Take a Taste of these Places:

  1. Pepe's Tacos: I would say by far some of the best tacos we have ever had. Thy are open until they run out of the two massive pastors cooking outside and it is DELICIOUS

  2. Tacoquilla: Just a little mexican food stop that blew me away. THis one guy makes all of the food and drinks from scratch and you can tell he LOVES it. He is the most friendly smily guy and you can taste the amount of time and effort he puts in his food, even the chips and salsa. Very cheap too!!!

  3. Captain Don's: Classic as it gets sports bar filled with people sports live music and booze. Its always a party at this place so if you want a lively good time go to Captain Dons.

  1. Taquitoes Acapuico-Vallarta: A family restaurant with family sized meals. Again, If you want authentic homemade Mexican food, this is the place. Guys STOP paying tourist prices for over processed inauthentic food!

  2. No Se Nada Bar: BEST rooftop happy hour in PV you need to go the sight is beautiful

This best thing to do in PV is to check out the local events posted on the board in town square. There are tons of things to do and they are always having events going on. The second thing is do the excursions. There are guides that will try and sell you excursions on the street near the beach, and use them. That is cheaper and you get their personal information. This is a very trustworthy area. Mating season for whales is November through February and you will see tons of them, but they provide all day excursions with meals or half day which for us was plenty. For adventure seekers, a trip to El Malecon is a must. This charming coastal boardwalk spans the length of the city and offers stunning views of the ocean, as well as vibrant street performers and local artisans selling their handmade crafts. The board walk goes out into the ocean where a lot of really amazing excursions pick up from. From, snorkeling, scuba, and whale watching there are tons of fun adventures to go on.

#1 They Prefer U.S. Dollars here so if you are a US citizen don't bother getting pesos out because of the exchange rate.

#2 Happy Hour 2 for 1 means you have to drink 2 drink yourself you can not split with another person. They will also try and offer non house liquors for the drinks, this VOIDS the happy hour specials.

#3 The salsas are VERY spicy and this is coming from someone who LOVES spice. dont over do for the tummys sake.

#4 the city square has a list of events going on in the town on a billboard GO CHECK THOSE OUT.
